How I Celebrate a Less-than-Picture-Perfect Christmas Day

Hubby, Sandy, and I are truly blessed at Christmas.

Yet, while we imagine families, toasting words of love and hope around long dinner tables, we are home alone.

No worries.

Truth told, we partake in four Christmas celebrations.

Thus far, we’ve journeyed across Washington state, spending two festive days in Snohomish with daughter, son-in-law, two grandsons, three 100-pound dogs, and a blind parrot. Surrounded by 20 acres of forest, we shared an elegant dinner, caught up on their lives, played games, laughed, and hugged — pure perfection.

We returned home with just enough time to wrap the next round of packages, bake pumpkin, raspberry, and chocolate cream pies, and make molasses cookies for our local daughter and grandson on Christmas Eve. Although our table was small, the servings of pasta, laughs and love were heaping. Oh, and we can’t forget, our dog Cooper who provided much entertainment opening his gifts.

Later, as we rested in our recliners, we celebrated by phone with son and daughter-in-law in Arizona, along with our three orange tabby grandcats. In-person would be better, of course, but…
