I agree, Maria.

Then we’d trudge home, stopping at the baker’s that had stayed open, just for Catholics, and we’d buy hot rolls which we demolished with loads of butter, then went to bed in the early hours, resisting the urge to open that one gift with our name on it, and tried to sleep.
