I really relate to your entire post. Today I am glad that I have never been able to stick to something that I am not passionate about. And, like you, writing is my sweet spot. I feel myself around other writers. Oh, and I am constantly telling my husband, "dang, I've turned writing into a job again." That's when I back off for awhile and regroup.
