Oh my! What an ordeal. I just got back from traveling to AZ. I wanted to bring my son this very heavy baseball card folder so I was forced to pack super light. I had more than what I needed with just my carry-on and a laptop bag. I thought it might be a challenge, but it wasn't. Like you said, things have changed so learning to travel light is essential anymore.
