We were in denial with our 13 year old lab. We knew, but didn't want to know. In a subconscious attempt to do the right thing, we took him for a well check. The vet told us she believed he was hanging on for us and that he was suffering. It was as if our eyes opened to see his troubled breathing and pain weary stance.
